  • Testing will range from 1 to 5 year periods and either 20% 30% or 100% of circuits to be tested.

Portable Appliance Testing

  • PAT testing ensures the safety of your employees and visitors. This type of testing is not mandatory by law but it does ensure that you are compliant with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Like our fixed wire programming we can offer on site surveys and work around the clock 7 days a week at no extra charge.
  • We use the latest testing instruments to record all test data and automatically download test data into our advanced database software, offering maximum efficiency and accuracy.
  • Any items that fail a PAT test can be repaired, replaced or removed from service for safety, and a full written fail report will be issued to you. We will advise you on future testing schedules, depending on your type of equipment and environment.

Thermal Imaging

  • By detecting anomalies often invisible to the naked eye, thermography allows corrective action to be taken before costly system failures occur. Thermal Imaging or Thermography is the process of using a special camera designed to look only for heat by way of infra red (IR) energy waves. Potential problems can often be found due to excess heat being released by an electrical system, even those which would normally produce some heat when performing at their optimum level.
  • If undetected these problems can lead to failure and can result in expensive production loss or downtime and, in the most extreme case, can lead to fire. A regular programme of thermal imaging as part of routine maintenance can highlight potential problems long before any event. As a result any required repairs can be planned for in terms of both time and budget. In short, it is an invaluable resource for predictive maintenance. Thermography has applications in many different areas which are listed below.
  • Thermography can detect the following in electrical systems:
  • Loose connections
  • Overloads
  • Phase imbalances
  • Corrosion
  • High resistance in fuses and switchgear

Thermography can detect the following in mechanical systems:

  • Motor overload
  • Worn Bearings
  • Boiler seal leakage
  • Insulation breakdown
  • Hydraulic, steam and hot water systems
  • Tank levels and insulation
  • Valves
  • Turbines

Thermography can detect the following in buildings:

  • Continuity of insulation
  • Flat roof leakage
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Cold storage thermal gain
  • Seals

Emergency Light Testing

  • Protec offer a full duration emergency lighting test service
  • we will provide checks on battery and after a power loss of 3 hours. we will perform the test in one day weather that be out of hours or at times best to suite. After testing the luminaire is returned to its stand-by state.
  •  Protec provide full duration emergency light testing, a full report detailing each light and details of any faults found.

Remedial Works

  • After a Fixed Wire or Periodic Test you will have received an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). If this report contained any C1 or C2 codes, or Further Investigation recommendations your installation has a high level of risk or danger to employees or customers.
  • You will need to appoint a suitably qualified contractor, immediately to complete the remedial electrical work required to resolve these issues, in order to receive a satisfactory report. Until the remedial electrical work is completed, your installation is not compliant with Health & Safety legislation.
  • If your EICR report contained any C3 codes, these are advisory and do not legally require remedial action, however, it has been identified that part of your electrical installation is no longer up to the required standard and remedial action is recommended.
